To all Pakistani medical students: Start planning early on how to build your career outside of Pakistan instead of only focusing on getting distinctions. Considering the direction the country may take in the coming decades, it’s wiser to think long-term for the sake of your future and your family. Don’t be satisfied with the slogan “cream of the nation” — you’re just milk unless you choose your battles wisely. With all due respect to those who choose to stay and serve in Pakistan, if you are truly content from the heart, then that is indeed admirable and the best path for you.

“Alhamdulillah, I am deeply honored to have graduated as a Chief from this program. I still vividly remember my early days as an intern—struggling to navigate and understand the Epic system, feeling overwhelmed and unsure. Over time, through dedication, perseverance, and the unwavering support of mentors and colleagues, I grew both professionally and personally.Reaching this stage—where I now have the privilege to teach, mentor, recruit, guide, and support residents—has been an incredibly humbling and rewarding journey. It’s not just about leadership; it’s about giving back, making a difference in others’ lives, and continuing to grow alongside those I have the honor to work with.”

These days, it’s very easy to say “leave Pakistan” given the current situation. When the country is going through political instability, economic struggles, and social uncertainty, the idea of moving abroad naturally appeals to many. Life abroad may offer comfort, better opportunities, and a more stable system—but true change doesn’t come from choosing the easier path. Real impact happens when individuals decide to stay, face the challenges, and uplift the community they belong to. Supporting your own people—through education, awareness, empowerment, or simply being a source of hope—can be one of the most meaningful contributions anyone can make. It not only improves lives around you but also brings a deep sense of purpose and inner peace. Even if political stability returns one day, Pakistan’s deeper issues—such as inequality, ignorance, and unemployment—will not disappear on their own. These problems require committed individuals who believe in progress and are willing to take part in building it. Your small efforts can be a source of inspiration for others and a guiding light for the next generation. If you truly want to see change, start by being the change for your own country.
